Dan believes ESL learning is hampered when we ignore our own personal tastes and only process language logically. Reading up on a number of articles (see The trouble with speaking English as a second language and Emotionality differences between a native and foreign language) he became convinced that a new approach was necessary, and designed Impact ESL to teach this important but overlooked aspect of language.

Education

Dan studied English Literature with Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University in Wales. His graduate Writing Project received the top grade possible.

Creative Writing

Dan also writes creative fiction. He has a particular love for magical realism and fantasy, which inspired him to drive forward with a number of projects. Among these works is the short story The Wind Feels Loss, published with Popshot Magazine.

Tutoring

Dan has traveled the world teaching ESL, from China to New Zealand, and has tutored students from Korea, India, China and Europe among many more. In those studies, he has taught many pieces of literature to second language learners, from Lois Lowry's The Giver to Shakespeare's Hamlet.
